Position Overview
The Assistant Designer will support our lead architect and designer with multiple aspects of the design and development process for various architectural projects. This role is crucial in helping to bring our clients' visions to life through 3D modeling, material and product specifications, and assistance with documentation/permit set development. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in architectural design, an eye for detail, and proficiency in Revit and Rhino.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modeling: Create 3D models of architectural and interior design projects using Revit and Rhino.
Permit Set Development: Assist in the preparation and development of permit sets, ensuring all documentation complies with local regulations and standards (primarily Los Angeles City and Los Angeles County).
Material Specification: Research and specify appropriate materials for various projects, balancing aesthetics, and functionality.
Product and Fixture Specification: Select and specify products and fixtures that align with the design vision and project requirements.
Detail Selection and Refinement: Aid in the selection and refinement of design details to ensure a cohesive and polished final product.
Schematic Design: Support the development of schematic designs, helping to create initial concepts and layouts.
Presentations: Prepare and contribute to design presentations for clients, showcasing design concepts and progress.
Development Research: Conduct research to support project development, including zoning regulations, building codes, and emerging design trends.
Background
Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in an architectural or interior design role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Revit and Rhino.
Design Skills: Understanding of architectural and interior design principles, with an ability to translate concepts into designs.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly.
Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for design and accuracy.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to challenges.
